New Prescriptions

Pharmacist If your health care practitioner prescribes medicine for you, the pharmacist will review your chart to make sure the prescribed medicine is the best one we have available for your condition. The pharmacist will also check for any drug interactions, so it is important to let the pharmacist know what other medications, including herbal medicines and supplements, you are currently taking and whether you have ever had an allergic reaction to any medication. If you have a prescription from a doctor outside of the clinic, the pharmacy can fill that prescription for you if the medication is one we normally stock.

Before you leave the clinic, be sure you and the pharmacist discuss the following:

  1. The name of your medicine and what it is supposed to do.
  2. When, how, and for how long to take the medicine.
  3. Common side effects to expect and how to deal with them if they occur.
  4. Whether the medicine is safe to take if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
  5. How to store the medicine.

Prescription Refills

Srv Prescriptions If your doctor has ordered refills on your medicine in advance (for instance, if you have a chronic condition and will be taking the medicine for a long time), you do not need to see the doctor each time before the pharmacist refills your prescription.

To have your medicine refilled, call the pharmacy with your name, your chart number, and the name of the medicine you need refilled. Your medicine will be ready for you to pick up at the pharmacy the NEXT DAY. If you do not call ONE DAY AHEAD OF TIME, you will have to wait to be served in order at the pharmacy.

If you have no refills remaining, we can generally give you a small supply of your medicine to last until you see the doctor again. In that case, we will ask you for the date of your next appointment.

Over-the-Counter Medications

The pharmacy stocks a limited number of over-the-counter (OTC) remedies, which we can supply without a prescription. If you want an OTC medication, please call the pharmacy to discuss your needs. The pharmacist will ask a few questions and help you decide which OTCs are best for you and your present condition.
